Kevin Kastning, Sandor Szabo & Balazs Major
review by Laima

More improvisations using specialized guitars and percussion from Kastning, Szabo and Major. Eastern/jazz elements. Interesting!

Maya Beiser et al.
review by Laima

Somewhat mininalist pianist/composer Harrison here works with cellist Maya Beiser and mixes cello overlays, piano, chorus/voice with Eastern elements. Mostly quiet, ethereal. Play most!

Heloise and the Savoir Faire

The Strokes are back with this new record - COMEDOWN MACHINE (RCA Records).

The fifth studio album from New York City indie rockers with the laidback vocals of Julian Casablancas, with tightly knit rhythms and jagged guitar riffs.

Captured Tracks
Alex Calder
review by cnoboa

Alex Calder's Time EP is a short 7 songs of laid-back rock songs typical of Captured Tracks. Calder's debut EP comes after years of making music with Mac DeMarco, as Makeout Videotape; the two went their separate ways and have released solo albums sounding not too different from one another. Time is the more experimental side of Makeout Videotape, with swooping guitars and echoed vocals. Give it a listen if you're a fan of DeMarco or Captured Tracks!

Play: 1, 2, 6 ALL!

Generationals
review by wowens

"Put a Light On", the fifth track on Generationals third album Heza, is the type of song you know you've heard before. Handclaps? Check. Bouncy guitar? Check. Mallet percussion? Check. However, no matter how many times that combination is used it seems there's always room for one more. It's a good thing too, because after you hear this track, it will haunt you for days. It doesn't matter whether you're trying to fall asleep, or shower, or ask that guy or gal you've been crushin' on out to dinner: this song will invade all of your thoughts. The rest of the album is pretty good, and there are definitely some standout tracks, but this one is miles above the rest. Play it as much as you can!

RIYL: Born Ruffians, GIVERS, Grouplove

Play: 5,4,1,6
