The master kora player again teams up with cellist Vincent Segal, as well as Moussa Diabaté on guitar, Aboubakar Diabaté on 12 string guitar, & Fassery Diabaté on Balafon. The kora dominates in this quiet, introspective, poetic masterpiece.
Led by Lalama(ts) this big band is made up of Hofstra alumni, faculty & guest artists. Cuts #1,3,8,10 & 1 are Lalama compositions. Has the feel of a NYC big band & they cook.
(2 CD Set) based on a childhood fascination w/his grandfather's player piano. Here Pat can mechanically control the mini-orchestra capable of responding to his touch on the guitar. Definitely a completely unique approach to solo performance. A must for Metheny fans.
Dhol (double-headed drum) master Sunny Jain is back with his 9 piece band known for their "Brooklyn Bhangra" sound - a raucous blend of Indian bhangra with a horn section as energetic as any Balkan Brass band (also compares to a New Orleans Mardis Gras band). Fine party music with exotic flavors.
Well-known for their high energy live performances, as can be seen here.
Title says everything. This is the third solo release from this West coast guitarist. It seems that the late Joe Pass has played a role in shaping her style.
